| OK so I'm going to *try* and keep this updated on a weekly basis (hopefully).
I've been here since Sunday, and this week it's just me, another Area Director, the wranglers, lifeguards, and fulltime staff - doing some training, alot of last minute preparations around camp, and alot of lesson and activity planning...though I've been slacking on that - so I should wrap this up soon to get going on it yet tonight!
On the way up I was able to visit Jason from camp last summer in GR for a while - it was good to touch base, though we weren't able to talk long. Then I visitted Andrew/Samurai (Tim joined us!) overnight Friday night - that was amazing as well - especially since they're both done at Tech I will definitely miss them, though hope to see them occasionally...
Then Saturday night I stayed with Josh in Iron Mountain (Jerod was able to hang out too!) until Sunday afternoon - that was cool because we were able to go biking around Fumee lake, get ice cream, and just hang out. Josh also won't be returning to Tech - but Jerod will!
OK - I'll try to update again before next week, then hopefully give weekly updates here, in addition to hopefully emailing and calling some when I can...though I know things will get very busy soon!
Address: Lake Ellen Bible Camp 212 Baptist Camp Road Crystal Falls, MI 49920
Mail is always awesome - I'll try to send some letters out too...sometime a good snail-mail letter is 100x better than an email!
| I'm in Chicago Sunday - Saturday on a short term mission trip with Campus Crusade for Christ at MTU. By day, we'll be gathering information / making contacts to initiate a campus ministry on a campus that doesn't have active Christian fellowships. By afternoon/night, we'll be doing anything from interior demolition, to an Immersion night, to street evangelism, to homosexual and/or prostitute outreach, to free time, depending on the night. Mom: remain calm! Greater is He that is in us that he that is in the world!
Immersion Nights "Immersion Nights generally begin at seven or eight
in the evening and end by one-thirty in the morning. Upon arrival at
Emmaus, the groups will receive an hour-long briefing in the Ministry
Center. We will discuss the work of Emmaus on the streets, include
street and bar etiquette and provide a general description of the
area you will visit. Groups will be divided into male/female pairs,
provided with maps, and sent to a North side neighborhood. Each pair
has four specific educational goals to meet during the night that
will help them reflect on their experience and apply it. After three
or four hours on then street, the group reconvenes at the ministry
center to discuss and process the night’s events."
11 of us in a 12 passenger van - will make for a fun drive! (we had 12 until very recently, as the Judas among us was revealed! lol just kidding)
Please pray for us, and the many other mission trips going on! (His House going to Biloxy, another Crusade team to New Orleans, InterVarsity to Milwaulkie, St Al's also going to Chicago, and Wisconsin, and more)
P.S. Thank you Jamestown Reformed church for the kind support!
